After spending 13 years as a software developer, I recognized a growing gap between the technology skills employers needed and the skills many students were graduating with. That realization led me into education with a simple mission: to help develop the next generation of coders and technology professionals. Over the past 15 years, I have taught Information Technology courses that includes computer programming, networking, web development, database management and game development, in a variety of settings, including 10 years as a career technical education instructor and 5 years as a college professor. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping students discover not only how technology works, but how they can use it to solve problems, create opportunities, and serve others.
As a wife, mother, educator, and mentor, I have also seen the need for high-quality technology education within Christian schools and homeschool communities. For the past two years, I have had the privilege of mentoring students at my church’s Christian academy using the curriculum I developed, and that experience reinforced my belief that these opportunities should be available to more families. While technology is often viewed as something worldly, I believe it is ultimately a tool. Like any tool, its impact depends on the hands and hearts that use it. My goal is to equip students with valuable technical skills while encouraging them to use their knowledge with wisdom, integrity, and purpose. By combining strong technical instruction with character-centered values, I hope to help prepare a generation that can use technology not only effectively, but for good.
